Humayun is a
Persian name which means "One who Favors" or "Champion". |
|
I
did my schooling in St. Joseph's High school (Umerkhadi) and
college from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan - Chowpatty, Bombay. Before
I embarked on a successful career in modeling and acting, I
struggled doing odd jobs for a while, till a portfolio shot by
outstanding photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha changed my life.

Modeling offers started pouring in. Life
was never the same again after distributing the pictures
clicked by Gautamji, I started getting work and got busier and
busier. The first ad commercials or the first agency to give
me a break was Frank Simoes Advertising agency and the ad film
was "Boney Mix" produced by Mr. Dilip Ghosh for Z film. My co
- model was Radha Seth.The assignments which followed were
Dettol,
VIP Luggage
and
Sunrise coffee
to name a few. |

I thank
Gautamji for his immense help, guidance and support. I thank
my theater guru Arif Kazi for instilling in me the love for
theater at an early age, by making me take part in school
skits and making me realize that I had talent and flair for
acting.I am into Hindi theater and have associated myself with
theater legend "Shri
Giresh Desai". Under his
teachings, I, formed my own theater group called
"United Models"
and have acted and directed thought
provoking plays which were highly acclaimed & appreciated by
all specially "Vaapsi"
which was based on the life story of a
eunuch and which also fetched me the best actor certificate
from
Hindi Vidyapeeth competition.
The plays which I have acted in are
Kabira khada bazaar main, Biwi Jawaan Miyan pareshaan, Mera
rang de basanti chola, Yaadain, Bhanak ruke hue wakt ki, Apne
baare main and Majnu ki aulad. |

On
Television, I have done serials such as
Gharounda, O Maria, Main, Chota
mooh badi baat and
also hosted two film based shows
"Bollywood Reporter"
and
"Ujala filmi baatain". In
2001, I was fortunate enough to be listed in the
"Limca book of
records - 2001" as the only model
that has done the maximum modeling assignments in India. In
the same year, I acted, scripted and directed a short
documentary film
"Dreamers of Peace" which got
awarded the audience award
"Bamberger Reiter"
at the 17th
International Kurz Film
Festival Hamburg,
Germany and it also got rave reviews from other film festivals
like "Next World Cinema
Night (Charleston S . C - USA)",
EVA - Film festival
(Ebensee - Austria) &
"International
Shorts Festival (Amsterdam)".
"Dreamers
of Peace” deals with global
peace and national integration.In 2002, I made another short
documentary film "We
Wish" which deals with social
acceptance.Both my short films have duration of about 1 minute
40 seconds and they are right now making the round of all the
major film festivals of the world.
